‘The Party’

April 29, 2009

Okay, I know this is going to date me, but I just found this video on youtube and just had to post it. What a blast from the past! This is a group named The Party, and they were the special select of the Mickey Mouse Club that got to be in this group.. I remember back in the day when my sister Sora, my best friend Ana, and I used to listen to them and go crazy over them.. haha! Anybody recognize this group? Anybody who actually listened to them? Here are some of their music videos, some of which I had never seen before. But for all you old Mouseketeer fans, enjoy!

Salad lovers beware

April 16, 2009

For all you salad lovers out there, read this:

WORST SALAD

Chick-Fil-A Chick-n-Strips Salad with buttermilk ranch dressing

* 800 calories
* 60 g fat (12 g saturated fat)
* 1,745 mg sodium

With 17 more grams of fat than Taco Bell’s Fiesta Taco Salad, this is the worst salad from any drive-through. The dressing alone sets you back 42.5 grams of fat. Take a look at our list of the worst salads in America and see how this one compares.

Eat This Instead:

Chick-Fil-A Southwest Chargrilled Salad with fat-free honey mustard dressing

* 360 calories
* 8 g fat (3.5 g saturated fat)
* 1,170 mg sodium

I’ve heard so many salad horror stories, and maybe that’s why I don’t order it as much (well, never). With so many salads being unhealthy, my rationale (or justification, take your pick) leads me to choose a Big Mac if it has the same, or sometimes more, fat and calorie content as a salad, and it tastes way better than tossed grass.

Hidden talent

April 15, 2009

You might remember Paul Potts, a contestant for Britain’s Got Talent, who stunned the judges awhile back by singing Nessun Dorma. A few days ago, Susan Boyle auditioned and unexpectedly blew everyone away with her performance, singing I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables. I can’t decide who wowed me more.

Frankly, I’ve been getting tired of shows that simply entertain and are overly dramatic. But every now and then, you get something like this, discovering hidden talent without the frills, which is so refreshing to me. So sit back, watch the video and get ready to be inspired~

Pay special attention to Simon’s very rare facial expression almost halfway into the video.
