Jewel goes undercover (at a karaoke bar, that is)!

She connects with Funny or Die (a comedy video website) and decides to go undercover at a karaoke bar in LA. She disguises herself as a shy, boring business woman, egged on by her “colleagues”, and eventually by the crowd, to sing. She reluctantly takes the stage and starts singing her own songs. The crowd is obviously impressed with her voice since she sounds just like Jewel but they have no idea that it’s really her!

Check out the look on one of the crowd’s face about 4 minutes into the video. It’s priceless!

Okay, I know this is going to date me, but I just found this video on youtube and just had to post it. What a blast from the past! This is a group named The Party, and they were the special select of the Mickey Mouse Club that got to be in this group.. I remember back in the day when my sister Sora, my best friend Ana, and I used to listen to them and go crazy over them.. haha! Anybody recognize this group? Anybody who actually listened to them? Here are some of their music videos, some of which I had never seen before. But for all you old Mouseketeer fans, enjoy!

You might remember Paul Potts, a contestant for Britain’s Got Talent, who stunned the judges awhile back by singing Nessun Dorma. A few days ago, Susan Boyle auditioned and unexpectedly blew everyone away with her performance, singing I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables. I can’t decide who wowed me more.

Frankly, I’ve been getting tired of shows that simply entertain and are overly dramatic. But every now and then, you get something like this, discovering hidden talent without the frills, which is so refreshing to me. So sit back, watch the video and get ready to be inspired~

Your thoughts?

Jason often calls me a junkie. And rightly, so. I tend to have an addictive personality, and I know it. This time, I find myself involved in something that many others were addicted to, but I never understood why. I had known about NCAA March Madness and heard how husbands and boyfriends would disappear or be useless for the month of March. Then I learned through my supervisor how it worked. She got me to sign up for our company pool, and so I quickly filled my brackets and turned it in. And just like that, I was hooked! I found myself checking ESPN like my life depended on it. I even used my iPhone to check the scores! I’m not so sure it’s basketball I love, as much as I’m drawn to the potential of winning! It’s not so much the money, because we didn’t put much into it, but it is fun keeping track and talking (smack) to your coworkers and friends about it. I think it also builds a sense of camaraderie.

As I’m sitting here tallying my scores, Jason smiles and calls me a junkie again. Oh well, I gotta go check the scores again. Go UConn! Who’s your pick?

It is small, cute, and seemingly harmless, but looks can be deceiving. This ball can do this.

and much more in places that I cannot show. I underestimated those little suckers. It was a painful lesson to be learned.

But, maybe I didn’t learn my lesson afterall because I would definitely go again. Or maybe the lesson is to layer up with thicker clothes the next time I play paintball

I have a new favorite love story, and it comes from an unexpected movie: WALL-E!

I watched it yesterday, and I knew I was going to enjoy it because it looked so darn cute, but I was actually really moved. I won’t spoil the plot but I thought the way they depicted Wall-E’s love towards Eve was right on. The way he just wanted to be with her and share fun things with her, but mostly the way he sacrificed for her! It was love, so simple and pure. And the longing in his voice, when he would call out for her, was rather heart wrenching. I must confess, I cried! Did anyone else cry, too? I know I’m sensitive, but you gotta admit it was pretty sad. How can an animation, much less a waste collecting robot be so cute, it hurts? Even the cockroach was adorable.

I thought the movie was really funny throughout the entire movie. I laughed, cried, got worried, got excited, and felt a whole range of emotions. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I dare say that this has become my all time favorite Pixar animation.
